Creating meaningful learning experiences where every student feels seen, valued, and capable of achieving extraordinary things.
01 — About Me
ABOUT ME
My journey into teaching began with the understanding that every student brings their own story, challenges, and potential into the classroom. I believe teaching goes beyond lessons—it's about seeing each student as a whole person and creating space where they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I view teaching as both an art and a science: the art lies in building genuine relationships and creating moments where students feel truly seen, while the science involves intentional instructional design that adapts to different learning styles and meets standards. Through my student teaching at the University of North Texas, working alongside experienced mentors, I've developed my approach to classroom management, lesson planning, and student engagement. Each day, I continue learning what it means to be an educator who truly serves her students.
02 — Philosophy
What I Believe
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that students learn best when they feel safe, valued, and supported. Creating a strong sense of classroom community allows students to collaborate, respect one another, and contribute positively to the learning environment. With clear expectations, consistent routines, and mutual respect, the classroom becomes a place where students feel confident participating and taking academic risks.
A supportive environment also encourages a growth mindset. When students understand that mistakes are part of learning, they are more willing to try new strategies and challenge themselves. Engaging, hands-on learning experiences spark curiosity and help students make meaningful connections to the world around them. These experiences encourage students to ask questions, explore ideas, take ownership of their learning, and celebrate both their own progress and the success of their peers.
Beyond academic growth, education also plays an important role in shaping students' character. My goal as an educator is to nurture students' confidence, empathy, and curiosity while fostering the growth of both their hearts and their minds. Through continual reflection and professional growth, I strive to strengthen my teaching so that I can better support the diverse needs of every student in my classroom.
"My goal as an educator is to nurture students' confidence, empathy, and curiosity while fostering the growth of both their hearts and their minds."

Supervisor Feedback
Feedback from my university supervisor during student teaching observations.
"Ms. Kimmons created an exceptionally engaging learning environment that sustained student excitement and active participation over a 55-minute review lesson. This demonstrated strong understanding of 4th-grade learners' needs for active, social, and motivating learning experiences."
— Shelly Milmo Wendt, University Supervisor, University of North Texas"Students weren't just sharing answers. They were convincing, explaining, and justifying."
— Shelly Milmo Wendt, University Supervisor, University of North Texas"Ms Kimmons: Built mathematical discourse skills through team debates and persuasion, created a culture of success where all students could participate and succeed, and balanced fun and rigor— engagement didn't replace learning; it enhanced it."
